The World Championship is an incredibly overwhelming event, both for those who play, and for those who participate in this great and emotional manifestation. I experienced it first hand in Brazil, being present there as a "reporter" for SkySport. But, above all, as a person who loves football.
This love blossoms in the pictures that will be exhibited in ADPLOG, my gallery and artspace in Turin, in the new exposition “Magnum Photos with Save the Dream: Noites do Brasil”. This exhibition is dedicated not only to the World Cup in Brazil from the purely professional point of view, but mainly to the moments of humanity that livened up this event.
This project is a result of collaboration between a great photographic agency Magnum Photos and Save the Dream, a program of diffusion and support of values and purity of sport, that I endorse.
The emotions of Brazil 2014 are enshrined in the pictures taken by four Magnum photographers (Susan Meiselas, Jonas Bendiksen, David Alan Harvey, Alex Majoli) working side by side with four young Brazilian photographers (Barbara Wagner, Pio Figueiroa, Breno Rotatori, Andre Vieira) and two collectives (Garapa and Midia Ninja) to catch every aspect of this extraordinary manifestation, even the most unexpected, curious and unusual. Lights, colors, contrasts, goals, emotions: all the World Cup, relived through stunning images, with great passion for football.
This exposition will host also the pictures taken by Magnum photographers in Brazil for the project “Offside Brazil” (http://offsidebrazil.tumblr.com) carried out in collaboration with Moreira Salles di Rio de Janeiro Institute, Magnum and Save the Dream's partner in Brazilian project.
I'm particularly proud of the extraordinary exposition of Steve McCurry's works "Power of 10", just recently closed in Turin, and now, ADPLOG opens its doors for a new event, that can't be missed by photography lovers, sport and football fans and all those who want to relive great emotions of World C 2014.
Looking forward to seeing you in ADPLOG from the 18th of September.
